FEI World Jumping Challenge
This is a two-round competition where riders will jump both rounds and the penalties from the first round are added to the second round. The rider with the least penalties wins!
The competition is designed for those riders not competing internationally to compete against riders of the same level from all over the world. The Challenge is divided into 10 geographical zones, each with its own qualifying rounds, with the same course design across the board taking place in a 65m x 45m arena. Riders will have the opportunity to compete in Categories A (1.20 – 1.30m) and B (1.10 – 1.20m) – but only Category A acts as a qualifier. Category A will receive world rankings and the overall Cat A winner from each NZL regional zone will head overseas for the FEI World Jumping Challenge Final. Category B offers a fantastic opportunity to ride an international-standard course at a lower height.
Equissage / Equidays Pony Grand Prix – 1.20-1.25m
Run much the same as the Horse GP, the Pony GP is held in the new Competition Arena and attracts the elite of the junior riders and their fantastic ponies.
ESNZ / G.H. Mumm Champagne Horse Grand Prix – 1.40-1.45m (part of the Friday nightshow)
The cream of the crop, Grand Prix SJ is the ultimate in skill and is held in the Indoor Arena as part of the Friday nightshow.
Horseware Ireland Dual Jump – INVITATIONAL (part of the Friday nightshow)
Two riders ride identical courses at the same time and against the clock. Held on the Friday night, the Dual Jump is fast and entertaining.
Hyundai Premier Derby – 1.35m
A unique and prestigious event for elite jumpers and eventers, the Premier Derby is showjumping held over a course of natural-type obstacles. Held over a longer distance and varying terrain, it is a test of skill and endurance not often asked of showjumping horses.
Wade Equine Derby – 1.10-1.15m
The Horse Derby, held over the same course as our the Premier and Pony Derbies but with the jumps at a lower height, is a great introduction for those younger horses or greener riders not yet ready for the Premier Derby.
Honda Pony Derby – 1.10m
Held over the Hyundai Derby Course and set at a lower height, the Honda Pony Derby is for elite junior jumpers and eventers aged 16 years and under.
Isuzu D-MAX Showjumping & Cross Country Challenge – Accumulator
Eventing without the dressage! Combining the skills of showjumping with the speed and excitement of cross-country, this is set over a short, fast-paced course in the Hyundai Derby area.
JLT Pony 6 Bar – Day to be confirmed
A fun event, where six identical fences are jumped, increasing in height until we have a winner. It is not unusual for the winner to jump 1.50m – taller than the pony itself.
